A delegation from the Human Rights Commission (HRC), headed by its Deputy Chairman Zaid Al-Hussain, visited various government offices, courts and prisons in Makkah.
During a visit to the Makkah criminal court, the delegation met with its acting chief Sheikh Khaled Al-Haqabani who briefed on the court's working mechanism and major areas of activities. The commission members urged the court officials to expedite court proceedings and avoid delay in pronouncing judgments. The delegation also met with senior officials of various departments and organizations, including Nasser Al-Khozaim, deputy chairman of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, and chief of the Makkah branch of the Prosecution and Investigation Commission (PIC).
Meanwhile, Ahmad Al-Sumairi, acting undersecretary at Taif governorate, opened an exhibition, organized by the Taif branch of the Saudi National Society for Human Rights in Taif yesterday.
Adel Al-Thubaiti, official of the branch, said that a number of agencies and departments are taking part in the exhibition, which aims at spreading awareness about human rights among members of the society, especially among women and expatriates, as well as curbing domestic violence against women and children.
The exhibition showcases the society's various publications, in addition to excerpts of lectures and seminars organized by it in the region.
A drawing competition titled "Know your rights" for children will be held on the sidelines of the exhibition.
