Amman -- HP announced on Sunday the launch of a competency centre at its new offices in Jordan.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of HP's participation in MENA ICT Forum 2010, which kicked off here on Sunday. The opening of the center comes as part of the company's continued commitment to invest in the growth of the Middle East Region, and to expand its leadership in the Middle East IT market.
The subsidiary has sales, services and support responsibility for customers in Jordan, and will allow HP to better serve its existing customers and achieve the customer proximity necessary to extend its reach to all economic segments as well as Local and Central Government organizations.
In addition HP has created a regional competency centre in Amman that will cover the Middle East region. The centre will mainly focus on delivering HP Solutions and Services at customer's sites across the Middle East. Such centre will provide an opportunity to Jordan graduates to join an international delivery centre, and work on projects that span multiple Middle East countries.
"HP's recent investment in the Kingdom is a testament to Jordan's standing as a destination of choice for the Middle East and North Africa region and beyond", said Minister of ICT Marwan Jumaa. He also emphasized that "we strongly value the relationship with HP and will continue to work with them towards a deeper and more integrated partnership" "We are pleased to be collaborating with the major universities in Jordan, such as the Jordan University of Science and Technology, to address innovations in education and to prepare local students to succeed in a global marketplace. As one of the world's leading IT companies, we have a responsibility to equip young people with the skills they need to be competitive," said Vice President and Managing Director, HP Middle East, Mediterranean & Africa (MEMA) Santiago Cortes.
