Google's Nest is heating up the UK tech sector. It's transformed the humble thermostat into a smart new gadget which could well take off globally, according to Pocketlint.com's Stuart Miles. Nest was acquired by Google for USD 3.2bn in January this year.

Stuart also reviews BSkyB's plans for its “Buy & Keep”, a new movie service which supports downloads that can be stored forever on a Sky+HD box. For every film downloaded Sky sends out a DVD copy to the customer as well. Stuart warns that some tech adopters will complain that it's not blue ray but that overall for BSkyB, which already has 4.4 million on demand users, it's a "nice approach".

And whether you love it or hate it,  April Fools Day provided good marketing opportunities for companies. This year, he was most impressed with Virgin Atlantic and BMW.
