Mercure Grand Hotel, the highest hotel in the UAE, yesterday formally opened its doors, offering world class services from the most picturesque location in Jebel Hafeet.
The hotel was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Al Ain Economic Development and Tourism Promotion Authority.
The ceremony was also attended by Khalifa Nasser bin Huwaileel Al Mansoori, chairman of Abu Dhabi National Hotels, Christopher Landais, regional director of Accor Middle East, and a large number of dignitaries.
Located on the countrys highest mountain overlooking the city of Al Ain, Mercure Grand Hotel is the latest addition to the country's international standard hotels.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Mansoori said the hotel is another step in the development of Al Ain and offers business and leisure travellers a memorable experience.
Al Ain is an ideal destination to discover oases and souks, a camel market,Hili Archaeological Garden, a museum, and many other attractions that are making the city a major player in the UAE's tourism industry.
Mercure Grand is linked with international chain Accor that has 147,000 associates in 140 countries. Accor is also considered one of the largest groups in travel, tourism, and corporate services.
This hotel offers a blend of Arabian traditions with French charm, according to the management of the hotel. It enjoys a unique environment and climate with 115 impeccably designed rooms and six executive, two diplomatic and one royal suites. All these rooms and suites have views across the valley.
The fully equipped function rooms of the hotel can accommodate up to 300 people. The hotel also offers special packages including desert and dune adventures.
The resort complex includes two floodlit tennis courts, three temperature-controlled swimming pools, squash and aerobics, a children's playground as well as an extensive range of restaurants.
