MUSCAT -- Haya Water is participating in Comex 2012 to demonstrate how it is using its ongoing water reuse project to simultaneously cover tens of thousands of homes and offices across the Muscat Governorate area with leading edge Fibre to the Home (FTTH) technology.
Working in partnership with Oman's leading telecom providers, Haya Water is ensuring it can maximise the benefits of its ongoing tunnelling work to ensure that modern fibre optic cables can be installed alongside new pipelines that the company is installing across Muscat.
This represents a hugely cost-effective opportunity for the licensed operators to ensure they are able to connect more than 110,000 properties by 2018 and minimise disruption to the general public as additional construction works will not be required in the future for the FTTH systems to be installed.
And the initiative is fully in line with Haya Water's long-term objective to make Muscat a better city for all its residents to live, work and bring up their families in a clean, modern and environmentally friendly manner -- while helping to create a truly digital Muscat of the future.
Haya Water is having a dedicated stand and presence at Comex to showcase the progress of their FTTH development and is screening a new film that highlights the progress of this innovative project to date and will demonstrate the enormous benefits in speed using FTTH for Internet and other applications.
Its presence at Oman's biggest annual telecommunications gathering is being led by the specially created Haya Water Telecom Unit that is operating to the highest international standards having been accredited in 2011 with ISO 9001 certification for its operations.
The company will lay tens of thousands of kilometres of pipes as they connect homes, offices and commercial premises across Muscat Governorate in what will be one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects ever undertake in the Sultanate.
Commenting on this fibre optic initiative Abdulsalam al Sinawi, Senior Telecom Unit Manager at Haya Water said:
"Haya Water is enormously proud to be taking a leading role in helping to ensure that every home and business in Muscat can benefit from being directly connected with fibre optic technology.
"Working in tandem with the water reuse project construction ensures this is an extremely cost-effective solution for the big telecommunication infrastructure providers and will reduce the impact on the environment by not having to undertake a second round of construction work in the future."
He explained that already about 3,000 properties in the Maabela area of Muscat are linked by fibre with over 100 customers already taking up the benefits of the system and enjoying bandwidth speeds in excess of 45 Mbps already with a target speed of over 100 Mbps for every home in the future.
Thousands of kilometres of pipeline have already been laid to cover homes and businesses to the new network as part of Haya Water's enormous water reuse project initiative that will replace the old, smelly and inefficient septic tank system that is currently used by most properties in Muscat.
Haya Water's vision is to enable Muscat to become one of the top cities in the world by building and operating a world class water reuse system that connects at least 80 per cent of the residential properties by the year 2018 and brings enormous environmental benefits to the Muscat Governorate area.
