Mike Harrison handed himself a fine parting gift when he logged the best time in the fourth round of the Emirates Autocross Championship yesterday.

With 30 cars taking part in this competition held at the Dubai Immigration parking lot, Harrison powered his 1996 Caterham7 to the best time of the evening completing the laid out course in 1 minute, 00.301 seconds.

Harrison is scheduled to leave Dubai for the UK by the end of this month. "I suppose this is like a farewell for me," he joked.

"But who knows, I might come back only to take part in the next round of this competition," he added.

Coming in second best was Lutfi Daoud in his Honda Civic with a time of 1:01.573 to extend his lead to 14 points in the 3M Class.

Also driving a Honda Civic, Zlatko Mulabegovic did well to upset all-time favourite Alan Nawfal for the title and log the overall third best time of 1:02.125.

"I am still ahead of the rest in my class. I know that I have to do well in the next two rounds to win the overall title in the 3M Class," Daoud stated.

Mulabegovic was thrilled after he had dethroned Alan Nawfal, the reigning 1M Class champion.

"The secret for my win lies in a minor alteration I made in the suspension of my car. Besides I got some new tyres from Yokohama, which gave me a better grip today," Mulabegovic said. "It was sweet revenge for me to oust Alan in this class," he added.
