Dubai: The eighth annual Hamdan Bin Rashid Prize for Educational Excellence honoured 132 winners at an impressive ceremony on Tuesday evening.

The winners of the excellence award were honoured by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, and Patron of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Prize for Educational Excellence.

"Our ceremony embodies our desire to improve all educational aspects in the state, since education constitutes the enduring base of the successful development processes in the state," Shaikh Hamdan said.

Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education and Head of the board of trustees, said: "Education has become one of the most important priorities of our nation."

Teachers praised
Best educational research: Fathiya Abdullah Mohammad from Ras Al Khaima, Dr Raaft Rakha Al Sayed from Abu Dhabi.

Best family category: Dr Abdul Wahab Naqd Abdul Wahab, Al Ahmadiyah School in Dubai.

Best implemented project: Al Saada Primary Education School in Dubai, Darwish Bin Karam School in Abu Dhabi.

Best education zone: Abu Dhabi

Best school and school management in Gulf: Makka Al Mukarrama primary education school, Saudi Arabia, Laila Al Ghafariyah Secondary School, Kuwait, Al Snabis preparatory school, Bahrain.

Best teacher at Gulf level: Mofi Masood, Saudi Arabia, Hanan Hamad Al Otaibi, Kuwait, Abdul Naser Zain Al Deen, Bahrain, Sabah Khalifah Al Muslim, Qatar.

Best student at Gulf level: Hamad Bin Ahmad Al Bo Ali, Saudi Arabia, Khowla Fooad Abdullah, Bahrain, Lulua Al Jafery, Qatar.
