Dubai HSBC skipper Gul Khan set the ICC Global Academy cricket ground on fire as he smashed a scorching century to lead his team to a thrilling one-run win over Mashreq Bank in the Interface Ramadan Cup tournament conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council and sponsored by Interface Transworld.

In the battle of the bankers, HSBC’s Gul Khan was instrumental in seeing his team set a daunting target of 215 runs as he dazzled with a match-winning batting display. He was in awesome form and scored at will, smashing boundaries and sixers to all parts of the ground.

Gul Khan only took 86 balls and hit six sixes and seventeen fours and remained unbeaten while wickets fell around him. Hemant Mapuskar with 23 runs was the only other batsman to make a sizeable contribution while Mashreq bank’s Asad picked up two wickets for 38 runs. Mashreq Bank also replied strongly, maintaining the required run rate of 8.5 runs as five Mashreq batsmen batted well and contributed largely in the chase.

It was a nail-biting finish in the end as eight runs were required in the final over and Arshad Laiq and Faraz got four runs in the first five balls.

With four required off the last ball of bowler Hemant, Arshad drove and scampered for two runs, he then desperately tried for the third run which could have tied the match but was unfortunately run-out handing HSBC a hard fought one-run win.
