AMMAN -- The ICT Association of Jordan (int@j) said on Sunday it will launch a guide next month that will help start-ups and entrepreneurs better understand the system and legislation governing the Kingdom's technology sector.

The guide will include all information regarding laws and regulations for the registration of companies, Abed Shamlawi, CEO of the association, told The Jordan Times.

The guide, he said, will also include information about taxes imposed on the sector, including income and sales taxes, social security subscriptions and other procedures related to the work of ICT companies.

"Many of the companies and start-ups in the ICT sector have frequent inquiries about legislation governing the field, so the guide will help them better conduct their work after they understand the ICT system in place," Shamlawi noted.

"We decided to prepare this guide after getting feedback from ICT companies on what they need to know," he added.

The guide will include special laws and legislation related to e-content, software companies, and telecom and technology firms, he said, adding that the guide will be updated biannually

There are more than 400 ICT companies in Jordan, according to the association.

On the ICT sector's revenues in 2012, Shamlawi said the association is in the final stages of preparing a report on the sector's revenues and statistics in 2012.

He said the report is expected to be announced by the end of this month, adding that it will highlight revenues, exports, employment and other indicators in the sector, which contributes about 14 per cent to the country's gross domestic product annually.
