Tehran, Aug 18, IRNA -- The government has placed incomplete projects on its agenda, the head of Iran's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said.

Mehdi Karbasian added that a paradigm shift in development is needed to achieve the goals of Iranˈs 2025 Vision.

He made the statement in the ceremony for signing the contract of combined cycle power plants.

ˈThe government has made great achievements in various fields last year,ˈ he said.

"Iran has abundant gas resources, which might be used for both industrial development and export."

Referring to water and electricity as the basis of development, he said the biggest problem in mining industry is water and electricity supply.

A trilateral contract to establish combined cycle power plants worth $285 million was signed by managing directors of National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), Kermanian Power Group and Iran Power Plant Projects Management Company (MAPNA).

Managing director of NICICO said the company prefers to provide electricity from formal entities, namely energy ministry and private companies.

Ahmad Morad Alizadeh added that the power plant will not only meet the region's electricity needs, but its surplus can be used in other production units.

ˈIran is among few countries manufacturing power plant equipment in the world,ˈ he said.

Alizadeh added that Sirjan Power Plant project has used 100-percent Iranian equipment.

ˈEnergy in general and electricity in particular are among Iran's resources for investment in energy-intensive industries,ˈ he said.
