Houston based Global Industries has won a contract worth more than $200 million from Saudi Arabian state oil company Saudi Aramco to supply pipelines at its Berri and Qatif offshore fields off the country's east coast, the company said today.

The contract covers the installation of water injection and crude pipelines linking the field with onshore facilities and includes subsea manifolds and valve skids, risers, two shore approaches and lateral pipes, the company said in a statement. The project includes pipes of 12 to 32 inches in diameter.

Global Industries spokesman Jim Gallagher told Upstream Online the deal was worth "in excess of $200 million".

Global said the work would be carried out by its Global Al Rushaid Offshore Company, with offshore installation expected to start in September this year and to be wrapped up by the end of 2008.

Gallagher said the company's DLB 332 combination derrick pipelay vessel would perform the subsea work with the use a diving support spread.

The company said it was also seeking other projects with Saudi Aramco.

Global carries out offshore engineering, project management and support services wordwide specialising in subsea pipeline installation.
