MUSCAT -- The German Embassy is scheduled to implement its new online-based Visa Appointment system on January 15. The current manual appointment procedure will now be replaced with a more efficient online-based version to ensure a swift and orderly service to all applicants. The appointment system is available in German and English languages and can be accessed via the Embassy´s website at www.maskat.diplo.de Requests for appointments via telephone or e-mail will no longer be possible.
The start of the European Visa Information System (VIS) on October 2, 2012 has brought along several changes in the process of applying for visa with the German Embassy Muscat, including: mandatory appearance of every visa applicant in person for the collection of biometric data (fingerprints and biometric photograph), and introduction of a Visa Appointment System. The Embassy strongly advises all travellers to apply for their visa well ahead of the intended travel date.
