Agreements under which a new phosphoric acid and triple super phosphate (TSP) plant will be created in M'dhilla, in the governorate of Gafsa were signed at a ceremony chaired, on Thursday in Tunis, by Industry and Technology Minister Mr. Afif Chelbi.
The cost of this project is estimated at 330 million dinars. It will be carried out by the Tunisian chemical group, the East China Engineering Corporation, Korea's Hyundai Engineering and the Tunisian firms SOCOMENIN (company specialised in engineering, maintenance and industrial construction) and TECI (research office),
The project will create 400 jobs, as well as increasing the quantity of processed phosphate, diversify the range of products and ensure environmental upgrading of the M'dhilla's site.
This new plant, which will be designed according to the latest cutting edge technologies and international environmental standards, materializes President Ben Ali's decision announced during the extraordinary session of the regional council of Gafsa (July 16, 2008).
