Doha - Sheraton Doha's Al Shaheen Restaurant provides a blast of a unique type of entertainment to Dohaites with the arrival of Lebanese duo Eddy and Anita.

With six years experience in performing Franco-Arab music, the duo enthrals Doha's varied audiences with songs from over ten languages par excellence. From Arabic to as diverse as Italian, French, Greek, Spanish, Armenian and Japanese among others, the songs are given a different twist in style.

"We would for instance sing an Arabic song in gypsy style or cha-cha with an Arabic song," Eddy explained to The Peninsula yesterday. With the diversity of their repertoire, people find it hard to identify their nationality. "When we sing people don't know where we are from. Members of the audience would ask, is she Italian? No she's not. Spanish? No she's not," Anita relates.

They have captivated audiences in many parts of the world, mostly in the Middle East and this is their second time in Doha. Asked which country they liked to perform, Anita said, "We are not interested in the place but customers. Whenever we play, we make sure that audiences enjoy our music and performance," Anita said. Music has been the duo's passion. Eddy said he tried venturing on other careers but music beckoned him back. "Music is in our blood," he said.

"When we sing, it is our souls that sing," Anita said, adding that singing is like acting. "We don't just sing. We have to effectively deliver the message of the song by being good actors," she said. With their mixture of styles brought about by variety of influences, the duo promises total entertainment for Doha audiences in their coming performances which would run until end of December.
