The Education Directorate in Madinah has issued a letter to foreign schools that do not teach Islamic studies and the Arabic language expressing its concern about the lack of commitment to the application of Article 13 of the foreign education system, which includes teaching basic subjects stipulated by the Ministry of Education.

The directorate stated that foreign schools would be held accountable. Article 13 states that all schools should teach Arabic language, Islamic civilization and the geography of the Kingdom.

The directorate stressed the need to teach these subjects using books licensed by the ministry. These are usually accompanied by an address from the director of the Foreign Education Directorate.

Educational offices were provided with a copy of the circular to follow up on the issue during field visits to their schools. The circular, sent by the Deputy Minister of Education, includes technical supervision on identity subjects in foreign schools.

Schools that do not abide by the rules that stipulate that these subjects must be taught will be reported and regulatory procedures will be taken against them.

The Madinah Education Department notified schools in its province to accept children from the Burmese community. Burmese children will be accepted in the first grade. Those who are already enrolled must provide proof that they belong to the Burmese community. This can be done through the committee for legalizing the status of Burmese nationals.
