Kuwait City - Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh on Sunday conveyed a message from His Majesty King Abdullah II to Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah that underlined the deep ties between Jordan and the Gulf Arab state.
During a meeting with the Emir, attended by Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Judeh said Jordan is keen on cementing political, economic and cultural relations with Kuwait.
"The two countries' wise leaderships and their custody of those historical links had placed relations at the forefront of inter-Arab relationships and culminated in remarkable joint achievements to serve the interests of the two peoples," he said.
In their discussion of the growing economic ties, the foreign minister commended Kuwait's support of Jordan to help it address economic challenges, including a $5 billion grant to the Kingdom by the Gulf Cooperation Council nations.
Sheikh Sabah said Kuwait looked forward to further cooperation and coordination with Jordan vis-a-vis various regional and international issues "in a way to serve pan-Arab and pan-Islamic issues and achieve the aspirations of Jordanian and Kuwaiti people.
Judeh also discussed with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah ways to bolster ties through signed cooperation agreements, protocols and memos of understanding in meetings of the joint Jordanian-Kuwaiti Higher Committee.
They agreed that such accords would lay the framework for advanced economic and investment relations, including deals related to investment promotion and forging strong ties between private sector institutions in both countries.
Judeh and Kuwaiti deputy prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Sabah will co-chair a higher committee meeting today during which a number of political, economic, investment and cultural agreements will be signed.
