ABU DHABI, June 16th, 2008: The First Italian Language Training and Certification Program will start in Abu Dhabi from academic year 2008/2009, said Embassy of Italy to the United Arab Emirates in a press release.
The significant announcement was made in Abu Dhabi on Monday, June 16th, 2008, on the occasion of the signature of Memorandum of Understandings that the Italian University for Foreigners Perugia (Universita per Stranieri Perugia, www.unistrapg.it) signed with Higher Colleges of Technology and with Sorbonne Abu Dhabi. The Program enjoys the high patronage of the Embassy of Italy to the United Arab Emirates, which promoted the initiative. The Program foresees from academic year 2008/2009 professional full lecturers from the Italian University for Foreigners Perugia teaching Italian language and culture at Higher Colleges of Technology and at Sorbonne Abu Dhabi. Higher Colleges of Technology will also host the Centre for Certification in Italian Language for Foreigners, in cooperation with Italian University for Foreigners Perugia. The University for Foreigners Perugia is one of the most prestigious Italian Universities and awards Certificates of Italian language for Foreigners equivalent to those awarded by the most prestigious European Institutions acknowledged by the ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) reference framework. Therefore, the University for Foreigners Perugia is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as official Certification Agency for the Italian Language for Foreigners. On the occasion of the signature of the Memorandum of Understandings, the Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mr. Paolo Dionisi, commented: ?This program represents a milestone in the cultural relations between the UAE and Iraly. From now on it will be possible to meet in the most official and professional way the growing demand for Italian language and culture.
