A massive fire gutted four warehouses in the third Al Quoz Industrial Area on Thursday. It took firemen more than two and a half hours to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported in the incident. The warehouses stored clothes and luxury accessories.

According to a spokesman from the Dubai Civil Defence, they received a phone call at 9.15pm informing them of the fire. A team from the Jumeirah Civil Defence Station rushed to the scene and found that the fire had already spread to the four warehouses.

The head of the team called for back-up from all the Civil Defence stations in Dubai. Units from Dubai Police and municipality in addition to teams from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah Civil Defence assisted in the operation. A special unit from the UAE armed forces was also called in to help in the operation.

Colonel Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Head of the Dubai Civil Defence, supervised the firefighting operation, which was put out at midnight.
