A new InterContinental resort hotel is taking shape on Jordan's Red Sea coast just as the country's first InterContinental property in Amman prepares to serve up three fresh options for diners in the capital.
The InterContinental Aqaba Resort is expected to become a highly popular destination for tourists, as well as a prime conference and incentive venue, when it opens in the spring of next year.
It will become the fifth hotel in Jordan managed by InterContinental Hotels Group and will offer 288 rooms and 16 suites, including two Royal suites. All rooms will have sea views, while the suites will contain Jacuzzis, three television sets, internet access, coffee making facilities and at least two balconies overlooking the sea.
The hotel will boast the largest swimming pool in Aqaba, as well as four restaurants and a variety of bars including one located in the middle of the pool as well as a marina giving guests direct access to the Red Sea for cruising and fishing trips.
As progress on the new resort proceeds on schedule, the InterContinental Jordan in Amman is preparing to boost its appeal to local diners and visiting business and leisure travellers by opening three new restaurants in mid-February.
The Lebanese Bourj Al Hamam restaurant, seating up to 250 guests, and offering terrace dining during the spring and summer months, will offer a wide range of delicious Mezze items and traditional Lebanese main courses.
Cinco De Mayo, with its Mexican menu and ambience, will serve up a variety of spiced dishes, using chips, tortillas, salsas and sauces freshly prepared on a daily basis.
The trendy Indu restaurant will provide an exquisite Indian dining experience, offering authentic and creative Indian cuisine. A different region of the Indian subcontinent will be highlighted each month to keep the menu fresh and full of variety.
Gunter Grigoleit, General Manager of the InterContinental Jordan and Director of Operations, InterContinental Hotels Group, Jordan and Palestine, said: "Bourj Al Hamam and Cinco De Mayo will appeal to business and leisure travellers alike, as well as locals looking for more variety in their dining options."
He added: "The new InterContinental resort opening in Aqaba next year will offer top-class facilities on the Red Sea coast, and we expect it to attract a heavy year-round flow of holiday makers and business travellers."
Also in Jordan, InterContinental Hotels Group manages the Holiday Inn Amman, the Amra Crowne Plaza Amman and the Crowne Plaza Resort Petra.
