Ras Al Khaimah The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa) has asked all subscribers in Ras Al Khaimah to deposit Dh1,000 as guarantee for their accounts.

Fewa officials said no subscriber will get exemption from the deposit rule.

However, many tenants say they have paid the deposits to their landlords and Fewa should collect it from the landlords.

Fewa officials said tenants should take back the electricity and water deposits from the landlords and deposit it with Fewa.

Fewa has been attaching the cash guarantee requests with the monthly electricity and water bills instructing the subscribers to settle this sum to spare themselves punitive measures.

In other cases, notices have been installed at the entrances of the buildings to ensure that all subscribers adhere to the new measure and pay the cash deposit which will be of key importance at the time customers demand clearance certificates.
