The Swiss embassy announced yesterday the opening of the third Swiss Educational Fair.The fair will be held at the Cultural Foundation between February 16 and 17.
The opening ceremony will take place on February 16 and will be attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
In Dubai the fair will be held at the Dubai Rotana Beach Hotel on February 18 and 19.
During a press conference, Swiss Ambassador Francois Barras, Jean Claude Hagmann, Swiss Consul General, and Abdullah Al Amri from the Cultural Foundation, said the event will host 16 educational institutions, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur is participating.
The institutions will represent five sectors, including the private primary and secondary boarding schools, summer camps, finishing schools for girls, public and private universities and hotel management schools.
Besides providing detailed information about the programmes and tuition fares, the exhibitors will also visit local schools and representatives of the corporate world, who are in charge of the formation programmes of their staff abroad.
"The objective of the fair, which has become an annual event, is to present the tradition of excellence of the Swiss educational services and their diversity as well as to enhance the unique environment Switzerland offers to foreign students, high quality of the educational programmes, top security, first class health facilities, and stunning landscapes," said the ambassador.
He added the fair is part of the embassy's continued effort to strengthen the Swiss-UAE relationship in education.
Cooperation is underway between the ministries of higher education in the two countries, and a visit of the Swiss State Secretary for Science and Research to the UAE is planned.
The Consul General said the Swiss educational institutions have caught up with the international educational system by providing courses in English language, besides German, French and Italian, which facilitate the participation of students from throughout the world.
He said the staff at the diplomatic missions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are also available for the public to provide all necessary information about the educational opportunities offered by the country.
