Muscat: In a bid to highlight the latest trends and innovations in the plastics industry, the second Oman international plastics, rubber and packaging industry exhibition -- Oman Plast 2014 -- commenced yesterday at Oman International Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, chief executive officer of the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE).

"The increasing number of specialised exhibitions in various industrial fields poses a great significance to businessmen and industrialists to be acquainted with the latest developments triggered in the fields," Al Hasani stressed.

With an impressive array of leading manufacturers and suppliers present this year, the second Oman Plast 2014 offers a perfect gateway to reach a potential market and holds prospects of business opportunities and new collaborations. "The three-day Oman Plast 2014 embraces a mixture of local and overseas companies with a strong presence in various global markets. It eventually offers a great opportunity for industrialists to meet and coordinate among themselves to buy the required raw materials for the plastic industry," he pointed out.

Al Hasani hailed the strong presence of local companies in the exhibition, saying: "The quality of Omani products is very high and the local companies are undertaking noteworthy efforts to develop their products through qualified cadres and high technology."

Boom in plastics sector
Organised by Silver Star Corporation, Oman Plast 2014 showcases the latest technology and machineries used in manufacturing of plastics, rubber, packaging and petrochemicals. The event represents an ideal platform for Oman and its neighbouring states to source new technology and products. As the petrochemical industry is one of the main components of the Oman's economy, the event gives a great impetus to further diversity its growth.
