DUBAI, 4th November, 2013 (WAM) -- Etisalat has announced that it has received its report under the International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) 3402 Type II (formally SAS 70 type II) for its data centres, hosting business and managed services solutions.
Etisalat Managed Services Solutions (MSS) received an ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certificate in 2012, however it has now been awarded an expanded certification which has increased its coverage to Etisalat data centres and hosting business too. ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is an international standard for the specification of an Information Security Management System (ISMS). It provides a model for best practice in ISMS, ensuring customer information is always protected. ISAE 3402 is a certificate in the International Standard on Assurance Engagements. Issued by the US-based International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, it provides independent third-party verified assurance reports on controls at service organisations, a process that gives customers confidence in such organisations? accounting abilities. Ahmed Darwish, Senior Vice President, Customer Service Engineering, Etisalat U.A.E., received the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certificate from Brian Baxter of Lloyd?s Register Quality Assurance at a presentation ceremony in Dubai. Khaled Al Shehhi, Senior Director/Managed Services Solutions, Etisalat U.A.E., received the ISAE 3402 report from Michael Green, the representative from Ernst & Young. The event was attended by Etisalat staff and representatives from the Managed Services Solutions, Data Centre Development, Business Solutions and Corporate Quality and Transformation departments. Speaking at the event, Ahmed Darwish said, "As a recipient of this certification, Etisalat offers a unique advantage to its customers. This is mainly due to the growing need of data security and compliance with international standards.
