Sharjah, Nov.14th, 2007 (WAM) -- Etisalat Academy today organized a Mobile Phone Forensics workshop during the 5th Middle East IT Security Conference (MEITSEC 2007).
The workshop was led by Kevin Mansell, a recognized authority in the field of mobile phone forensics with a proven track record in training high tech crime investigators in the safe and effective retrieval of digital evidence. Judicial personnel, police chiefs, and many IT network engineers from the Gulf and Middle East attended the workshop. The workshop lasted for two hours and discussed topics relating to mobile phone forensics including an analysis of SIM cards, mobile handsets, removable media, good practice in phone forensics, PIN protection, equipment - such as the SIM card reader, forensics SIM and handset reading software, data cables, infra-red reader, and Bluetooth adapters. Mansell said: ?Mobile phone forensics has evolved dramatically in the last few years in knowledge levels and capabilities. This has tremendously influenced the advancement in the defense of mobile phones from hacking and disruption. As technology experts we should work towards increasing awareness of the dangers of mobile phone hackers and the ways of protecting content.? Colonel Sami Harib, Sharjah Police coordinator for the Middle East Information Technology Security Conference, said: ?The conference covered useful and important information. Soon after the conference is over, some of the points covered will be collected and distributed across all organizations, companies, and parties participating.?Dr. Doaa Faris, General Manager Etisalat Academy, said: ?This workshop tackled the issue of mobile phone hacking and created an open discussion amongst participants.
