JEDDAH: Saudi Aramco launched an environmental expo coinciding with the celebration of World Environment Day at Al-Andalus Mall in Jeddah on Wednesday.
A number of government and private companies are attending the expo titled "Help to Preserve our Environmental Resources" which is being held to highlight their activities and achievements in environmental protection and also increase awareness about the issue.
Abdul Majeed Al-Batati, undersecretary assistant at the Jeddah municipality, inaugurated the expo and thanked Saudi Aramco for its efforts in preserving the environment.
"It is important to encourage the culture of looking after the environment among different levels of society," he said.
The expo is showcasing methods of rationalizing energy use and water conservation, waste-recycling programs, responses to oil spills, and techniques that are being used in environmental conservation and environmental education programs.
"We want to highlight the importance of preserving our natural resources through our daily lives," said Nabil Baeshen, manager of Saudi Aramco Affairs in the western region.
