Dubai, Feb.18th,2006 (WAM) -- Emirates, one ofthe world's fastest growing airlines and Oman Air,the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, haveentered into a code share agreement, giving travellersbetter connectivity and an extended range of servicesbetween Dubai and Muscat.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Chairmanand Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, andZiad Al Haremi, Chief Executive Officer Oman Air finalizedthe agreement at a signing ceremony held in Dubai today.

The code share agreement boosts the available capacitybetween Dubai and Muscat to an impressive six flightsper day in each direction on all days except Friday- the highest daily frequency to a single point onthe Emirates network, a press release said today.

On Fridays, five flights will be operated in eachdirection on the route.

Emirates' customers can now choose to travel on theairline's two daily flights between Dubai and Muscat,as well as on Oman Air's four or threedaily services, depending on the choice of day.

Each carrier will carry its own designator codes andflight numbers on the code share services.

Sheikh Ahmed stated: 'Emirates is delighted to announcethis new code sharing agreement with Oman Air. Thepartnership reflects Emirates' commitmenttowards finding new opportunities to work togetherwith other airlines, in the larger interests of ourcustomers. Together, Emirates and OmanAir will offer customers more choice, more flexibilityand improved schedulingthroughout the day.' The benefits to business travellersare enormousas they can now arrive into Dubai for a day's workon any of the threemorning flights from Muscat, and return by any of thethree late eveningflights.

The new agreement will not only allow for greaterflexibility and convenienceon the Dubai-Muscat route, but will also provide smootherconnectionsand improved choice for passengers travelling to destinationsbeyond Dubai,in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Ziad Al Haremi added: 'The code share agreement betweenOman Air andEmirates is a significant step forward in strengtheningthe relationshipbetween our two airlines. The agreement will bringbenefits for our passengers,and enhance tourism and commerce between the Sultanateof Oman and Dubai.'Emirates' other code shares partners include Air India,Air Malta, AirMauritius, Continental Airlines, Japan Airlines, KoreanAirlines, PhilippineAirlines, Royal Air Maroc, South African Airways andThai Airways. OmanAir currently has code sharing agreements with SwissInternational AirLines, Sri Lankan and Gulf Air.
