Doha - The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated Al Sultan Beach Resort in Al Khor yesterday.
The inaugural function was attended by a number of their excellencies, the ministers, and a large number of businessmen.
After the inauguration, the Emir toured the hotel and viewed its facilities. Leading businessman and the resort owner Ali bin Sulthan Al Ali Al Maadid thanked the Emir.
Felicitating the occasion, Sheikh Faizal bin Kasim Al Thani, Chairman, Qatar Businessmen Asasociation, thanked the Emir for his initiatives in promoting the private sector. He hoped that the resort would be a milestone in the development of Al Khor city.
Set up in a sprawling 50,000 sq.m, the resort has a total of 216 room occupancy including two Emiri suits. All rooms are beach-front. It has one Italian restaurant and a separate sea food restaurant. Some 140 people can dine at a time in each hotel, said Magdy Khella, the general manager.
A Wedding Centre, named the 'Emiri Ball Room' can accommodate 500 people at a time. In addition, there several conference halls.
The Resort has a 300-metre private beach. Health clubs, massage parlour and swimming pools are the other attractions. Khella said the resort would soon embark on its expansion projects. The room availability would be doubled by 2007, he said.
