MUSCAT -- The Electricity Holding Company (EHC) recently conducted an Information Security Awareness Programme within its Holding Company and its subsidiary companies, as part of its acknowledgement of the importanceof the security of the Information Technology systems, whilst keeping the systems adaptable and accessible to customer requirements.

The Electricity Holding Company partnered with Eon IT for the Development & Delivery of IT Security Awareness for End Users to disperse the Knowledge to all the employees of EHC and its subsidiaries on the basic concepts of information security. The project aimed atbuilding up a well-informed and secure culture.

Acustomised Information Security Programme "Be SAFE" has beendeveloped with a basic theme of disseminating IT security awareness at all levels of organisation. Security Awareness for Everyone (SAFE) is not onlya classroom session but a comprehensive awareness campaign using all possible media to deliver the message to its end user, where participants came from all of the different departments of EHC Group.

"We are committed to protect our information by creating a culture of continuous awareness. He added: this initiative reflects EHC's efforts in keeping staff updated about the recent trends in the information technology world and in protecting them from potential threats," said Khalid Salmani, IT Infrastructure & Development Manager at EHC.

Aqeel Hashmani, Managing Director of Eon IT said: "We are excited to develop a customised information security programme for EHC covering from basic IT Security to Workplace security ethics."

The Electricity Holding Company (EHC) is a closed stock Omani company owned by the Omani Government.

EHC holds the shares of the Government in nine companies engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and related water services. EHC Group provides Omanis with the job opportunities as well as all the support to improve their skills and experience.
