Cairo –  Egypt’s Ministry of Housing plans to covert Abu Rawash wastewater treatment plant in Giza from primary to advanced wastewater treatment.

With total cost of EGP 1 billion, the expansion project aims to raise the capacity of the plant by 400,000 cubic metres per day to 1.6 million cubic metres daily, minister of housing, Essam El-Gazzar, said in a statement.

After being developed, Abu Rawash plant, currently serving 9 million people, will be the second largest wastewater treatment plant in Egypt following El-Gabal El-Asfar plant, El-Gazzar added.
