Cairo: State Minister for Military Production Mohamed Saaed el Assar and Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker had a meeting on Monday with a delegation of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) to discuss bilateral cooperation in constructing power towers and transmission lines.

During the meeting, Assar reviewed with the Chinese delegation the potentials of the Military Production Companies; Maadi Company for Engineering Industries (Factory 54), Helwan Company for Non-Ferrous Industries (Factory 63) and El Maasara Company for Engineering Industries (Factory 45).

Speaking at the meeting, Shaker said a strong industry is necessary to cater for the needs of large projects carried out by Egypt in the power-related fields with the view to achieving energy self-sufficiency.

For his part, the SGCC director in Egypt lauded efforts exerted by the government sector in securing electric power and improving its efficiency.

He added that his company will cooperate with the military production and electricity ministries to transfer and localize technology to construct power towers.
