A political epic will prepare the ground for an economic epic to take place. Announcing the above, Mohsen Sarami Foroushani, a member of Majlis Economic Commission, told Iran Daily that a part of the current year's slogan pertains to the economy, which has been raised together with politics, proving the importance of the upcoming presidential election.

The current Iranian year (started on March 21) was named as the "Year of Economic Epic and Political Epic" by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Foroushani also said people should take part in the election with caution to choose the best candidate and then officials will create an economic epic.

The lawmaker noted that Imam Khomeini, as the founder of Islamic Revolution, always emphasized on achieving self-reliance in economic fields, improving the economic and scientific sectors of the country and increasing trade transactions with foreign countries, all of which were economic issues.

"The economic slogans of the past years were aimed at realizing the targets set by Imam Khomeini," he said.

Foroushani said positive steps have been taken in Iran to attract domestic and foreign investments, generate jobs and enhance the industrial sectors, especially in the fields of road construction, oil and energy.

"If such efforts continue within the framework of Vision 2025, the country will attain great achievements in the region and the world," he said.

The MP pointed out that a number of problems and obstacles should be removed to meet the goals set for the economic sector and clarifying the issue of economic resistance will help achieve this.

He noted that the enemies of Iran will create many problems in this respect because they do not want to have such a strong rival in the international arena.

Foroushani went on to say that extensive endeavors were made to realize the targets set for the past year named "National Production and Support for Iranian Labor and Capital", but as Ayatollah Khamenei said in his Norouz message, all the set objectives should not be expected to be accomplished in a year.

He said Iran should attain sustainable production and avoid selling energies and minerals to foreign countries, adding that minerals, oil and gas should be processed in Iran.

Mohsen Bigleri, a member of Majlis Industries and Mines Commission, also told Iran Daily that there is a close relationship between economic and political issues.

Bigleri noted that the participation of various groups and parties in the upcoming presidential election will ensure an enthusiastic election, adding that this will help create a political epic in the country and prepare the grounds for removing sanctions imposed on Iran.

The MP said that despite attempts to overcome sanctions, the inflation rate has increased in the country, hoping that a significant presence of people in the presidential election and the extensive efforts of officials will help resolve problems in the current year.

Bigleri said the Leader has always called for the improvement of people's livelihood and urged officials to pay special attention to the issue while implementing economic plans.
