Dulux has launched a germ-repellent paint after demands from the industry.
'Sterishield' has been developed to prevent the spread of bacteria on the walls and ceilings of clinics, surgeries, hospitals, care centres and kitchens/food preparation areas.
It has also launched 'Royal Touch' a washable emulsion with stain resistant, anti-bacterial, flame-retardant properties.
Tony Myers, MD, ICI Dulux Paints, decorative licensing and export business (DLEB), said: "The decorative paints market in the UAE is evolving at a rapid pace. Dubai's booming hospitality, healthcare and real estate sectors have prompted the need for higher quality and durable finishes in hospitals, restaurants and affluent homes."
Half the world's consumption of paint is attributed to decorative and protective building coatings. ICI produces 1.4 billion litres of paint per year.
Ashish Chaturvedy, manager, marketing and business development, Al Gurg Leigh Paints (AGLP), said: "We are seeing growing regional demand for quality products and services that are safe and environmentally friendly.
The launch of innovative products like Royal Touch and Sterishield in the UAE addresses this demand, establishing us as industry leaders." AGLP are a manufacturer of Dulux.
