Damac Properties, a leading UAE-based luxury property developer, said it has completed the raft foundation work for tower B at its multi-tower master development, Aykon City, located on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.

The setting of the major foundation saw over 200,000 cu ft of concrete poured within a 24-hour period, the same amount required to fill 75 swimming pools, said a statement from Damac.

Aykon City is set to rise as a new architectural icon for Dubai. Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the 4-million-sq-ft multi-tower development will overlook Dubai’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, and offer residents the convenience of an entire city within its complex.

“This foundation slab sets the stage for accelerating development at this iconic project, and we look forward to seeing the tower rise up to complement the existing skyline,” remarked Niall Mc Loughlin, the senior vice-president of corporate communications and marketing.

“Aykon City is one of Damac’s flagship master developments in Dubai, and aims to offer residents and visitors quality experiences, with an abundance of services and amenities to suit all ages and lifestyles,” he added.

Mc Loughlin said the foundation work presented a complex challenge to the project management team, which minimised traffic delays during the setting process by turning the task around within 24 hours.

The slab also required concrete to be poured in a temperature-controlled environment to ensure it was conducted to the correct standards, he stated.

With the successful completion of the foundation, construction can now begin on the main columns ahead of the pouring for another slab which will make up the first basement level, added Mc Loughlin.

Aykon City is one of Damac’s most ambitious UAE development projects, and will offer residents the convenience of living in a multi-purpose neighbourhood, located within the heart of Dubai.

Offering stunning views of the Dubai Canal, Aykon City will be home to Aykon Plaza, an entertainment and lifestyle hub for the community that includes swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafes, restaurants, yoga and tai-chi areas, as well as a residents-only private recreation space called The Club.

The development plan is located on the eastern and western sides of Sheikh Zayed road at the Safa Park intersection, and consists of residences, serviced apartments, a hotel and an office space.-TradeArabia News Service
