Dubai: Dubai Infinity Holdings yesterday announced a multi million dollar joint venture with Yash Raj Films, a prominent entertainment brand in India, to build an entertainment district in Dubai.

The Indian entertainment brand is behind the success of blockbusters such as Veer Zaara, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Chak De India and classics such as Kabhi Kabhi and Silsila.

The Yashraj Films Entertainment District will comprise theme park attractions, a movie palace, hotel concepts and many other unique Indian genre entertainment concepts.

"All the components of the Yashraj District will be themed around the Yashraj banner.

"This is both an encouraging and exciting step for us," Samira Abdul Razzak, chief executive of Dubai Infinity Holding.

"Bringing such an honoured name into the UAE has been a strategic move as it attracts the core demographic of the country. Indian cinema has an increased general following in the region, as cinema statistics indicate that Bollywood films gross higher than western films. This will be a one of a kind partnership here in the UAE," she said.

Yashraj Films was named one of the world's biggest film distribution houses by Hollywood Reporter and has some of the highest revenue grossers in the entertainment business to its credit.

Headed by Yash Chopra, Yashraj Films has expanded to distribution of its own films and others made by prominent industry names around the globe,

"We are happy to be partnering up with DIH in making our foothold stronger in the region," said Yash Chopra.

This is Dubai Infinity Holdings' second project after announcing Isla Moda which will be the world's first island dedicated to fashion.
