The Dubai Municipality is planning to set up 'unique' amusement facilities and has asked leading European experts to present their projects.
The Swiss experts representing the Swiss Bureau Concepts Development (SBCD) and French and Italian experts yesterday presented their projects to municipality officials.
The meeting was attended by Abdul Rahman Al Sharid, Director of the General Projects Department, Engineer Mohammed Hassan Al Ali, Head of the Projects Design Section, senior engineers from Dubai Municipality, officials from other concerned government departments, private investors and specialists.
Al Sharid said the meeting's purpose was to listen to new ideas from the SBCD team end to discuss the prospect of applying some of them in any of the on-going projects of the Municipality such as the Dh 180 million Zabeel Park or the Jumairah Beach Development project, as well as in the proposed future projects such as a science museum.
"The meeting was also aimed at providing an opportunity to local investors to look at the prospect of investing in this field," he said.
Herve de Rham, Steering Team Chairman of SBCD, said the SBCD group comes to Dubai with a great deal of expertise in setting up international exhibition and amusement facilities worth billions of dollars.
"These facilities have been extremely successful in attracting millions of visitors to the cities they are located in the year round. We wish to set up a unique facility In Dubai as well, a city that has vast potentials to make it possible," said Rham.
He noted that the SBCD distances itself from copying conventional theme parks such as Disneyland or Asterix park but its concept is "Creativity Style Dimension."
Francois Confino, Exhibition Designer at SBCD, said "We see within the next four to five months the possibility of designing a special project for Dubai, which exists nowhere in the world at present."
