Dubai and Omani officials discussed easing of tourist visa procedures at a recent meeting in which Khalid bin Sulayem, director-general of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, announced that two of the worlds largest cruise ships will call at Dubai.

He recently received an Omani delegation headed by their Undersecretary of Tourism, Mohsin Khamis Al Balushi, at the Dubai Cruise Terminal.

The meeting was also attended by Col. Saeed bin Bleilah, director of Dubai Naturalisation and Residency, and senior DTCM officials.

Bin Sulayem said the meeting was fruitful and covered subjects highlighting tourism and related facilities. "The perspectives of both Oman and Dubai on tourism were deliberated in this meeting. Both sides discussed ways to enhance co-operation to further boost tourism between the two countries."

"The facilities and amenities of the Dubai Cruise Terminal have been appreciated by many international cruise ship companies. Plans are under way to make two of the biggest cruise ships, Tour Sea and World Sea, start their voyage from Dubai."

Col. Bin Bleilah briefed those attending the meeting about the authoritys efforts to ease visa rules and formalities for visitors.

He assured full facilities permitted by law to all visitors. He also talked about the E-card, which has simplified procedures for the authority.

Al Balushi emphasised that the new visa rules Oman has introduced were convenient. He particularly mentioned the introduction of a new visa category called Arabic Visa that covers Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Tunisia, India and Iran.

One more category of visa has been introduced, which could be used by 68 nationalities from Europe, South and North America and the Middle East. This visa can be extended by a month, from Oman International Airport.
