Dubai:

Following a 48-hour hackathon, which bought together over 120 developers, coders and technopreneurs from the UAE, Dubai Internet City, a vibrant business and tech community that provides a home to over 1,400 businesses across the ICT value chain, has announced the winners of the second edition of its hackathon, Decode Dubai.

During the competition, participants were invited to develop and present apps around five Smart themes; shopping and retail, culture and tourism, urban mobility, energy and emission and collaborative city, to an esteemed judging panel, which included representatives from Expo 2020, the UAE ICT Fund, Dubai Smart Government, Etisalat, RTA, Starwood Hotels MENA, du, Jackys Electronics, the PMO, Honeybee Tech Ventures, YAL, UAB, Green IT Globe, and Climate Control Middle East. Moreover, participants were encouraged to use open Application Programme Interfaces (APIs) by MasterCard MENA and Firware.

Dubai Internet City, a strategic partner for Smart Dubai, launched the Decode Dubai hackathon in January with the aim of driving the National Innovation Strategy and fostering technopreneurs and developers, enabling them to build new and smart solutions. Decode Dubai follows a series of initiatives spearheaded and supported by DIC, such as the Drones for Good initiative, droidcon Dubai and HackaMENA.
