Dubai: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) will organise the Sixth World Conference of Trade Promotion Organisations (TPOs) in Global Trade on November 13 and 14, in cooperation with the International Trade Center (ITC).

The Opportunities and Challenges conference, that will held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, will be attended by experts in trade promotional affairs, where they would meet and exchange ideas to develop new options for facing future challenges.

Abdul Rahman Al Mutaiwee, Director-General of the DCCI, said at a press conference yesterday that Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of the DCCI Board of Directors, and Patricia Francis, Executive Director of ITC, will attend the conference, which is held once every two years.

The conference will attract representatives of more than 133 trade promotion organisations worldwide, in addition to a large number of CEOs of companies, heads of Dubai government departments, representatives of foreign trade centres in Dubai, representatives of GCC, Arab and foreign chambers of commerce, Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce, as well as representatives of foreign-Arab chambers of commerce.

Al Mutaiwee added the conference aims at discussing issues related to the performance of TPOs in their delivery of essential trade support services and efforts done to overcome obstacles. It will also examine the international trade environment, the emergence of opportunities for benchmarking through regional networks, the relative values of trade and investment promotion and how the delivery of TPO services is changing to meet enterprise requirements.

"The World Conference has chosen Dubai to enable participants experience an outstanding model of enormous economic development here," said Al Mutaiwee.

"TPOs must understand the consequences of today's challenges and help clients develop strategies for capitalizing on the real opportunities," said Philip Williams, Senior Adviser on Trade Support Institutions in the ITC.
