Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) on Monday unveiled its programme for the upcoming Ramadan Forum to be held during the holy month.
The 10th Ramadan Forum - titled "Faith and Security" - comprises a series of lectures delivered an array of renowned Islamic scholars from different countries and will run from August 4 to 15 in Al Twar area.
The first of the Arabic language lectures will begin on the 4th of Ramadan to be delivered by Sheikh Sulaiman Al Jabailan, followed by Sheikh Saleh Al Maghamsi, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Al Arifi, Sheikh Mahmoud Al Masri, Sheikh Dr. Anas Bin Misfer, Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Al Daweesh, Sheikh Dr. Omar Abdul Kafy, and finally Sheikh Muhammad Al Arifi.
The program also includes four lectures between the 11th and 14th of Ramadan, to be delivered in foreign languages; the first in Tagalog, the Philippine language by the famous Islamic propagator Omar Penalber who's talk was very successful in the 9th Ramadan Forum, with 117 non-Muslims embracing Islam; two in English by the British Abdul Rahman Green and the ex-American Rap Artist and actor Amir Hawkins (Loon), and one in the Malayalam language by the Indian orator Mohammed Akbar.
Several other events will accompany the Forum, such as:
- Quran Memorization Mind-Map Course by Dr. Ibrahim Al Daweesh from July 28 to 30 (15 training hours), limited to not more than 40 men and 40 women. Prior course registration is required through the Ramadan Forum website: http://www.almultaqa.ae
- Best Lecturer Competition and a Poetry Contest
- Tent for children
- Two areas entitled "Kon Dai'yan" and "Koni Dai'ya", which will offer the audience informative material in different languages that they can pass on to non-Muslims to introduce them to the true religion of Islam.
- Kafilat-Al Khayr or Convoy of Goodness, a bus going around town distributing vital information about Islam and Muslim traditions in the form of Books and CD's.
- Health Education and Blood Donation centre.
- A tent for daily mass Iftars for more than 2,500 persons at the Al Muhaisnah Sonapur area.
- Iftar program (for non-Muslims) at Obaid and Juma Al Thani House in Historical Shindagha. More information on www.al-siraaj.com.
- Daily raffle draws with valuable prizes.
This year the Forum will also welcome Amir Hawkins aka Loon, who was a famous rap artist and musician in the USA before reverting to Islam in 2009.
