A drawing by 11-year-old Amani Abdel Ghani Al Ahdal, who suffers a hearing disability and attends Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, won first place among more than 2,000 drawings by children with various disabilities representing 22 centres nationwide.

Yousuf Hassan, 17, also with a hearing disability, from the Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre in Dubai, won second position, while Abdullah Ridha Al Zeidani, 11, with study retardation disability, from Dubai Special Care Centre, placed third.

The organising committee of the "Peace for Children" competition, organised by Emirates Post and sponsored by Chillis Co and Al Rawabi Dairy Co, said yesterday the prizes would be distributed among winners to promote their skills in this field.

Commented Abdullah Al Daboos, director general of Emirates Post, "The competition has allowed UAE children to express their vision of peace, especially the children of Iraq and Palestine."

Osama Salhin, general manager, Chillis, noted peace is the demand of all peoples of the world.Dr Ahmed Al Tijani, general manager, Al Rawabi, said the competition gave the children a chance to express their attitude towards children in the Arab world in particular, and children worldwide.
