Dubai: DPS, Sharjah booked their place in the semifinals in the Under 17 Apparel Cup, the annual inter-school cricket tournament organised under the auspicious of Sharjah Cricket Council, when they beat The New Indian School, UAQ by 31 runs.
Winning the toss and opting to bat, DPS once again was given a rousing start by their emerging star of the tournament Suarabh Gir who scored 35 off as many balls. Ankur joined the party with 43.
Replying to the tall target, The new Indian School UAQ made a spirited reply but had no depth in their batting, as their innings folded up at 106 in 18.1 overs. Hameed top scored with 28 while Ankur (3 for 12), Siddharth Shekar (3 for 28) and Nithin (2 for 23), were the main wicket-takers.
A thrilling match was played between arch rivals Our Own High School Warqa and The Modern High School in the Maxtalent annual Inter-school cricket tournament for Pehla Cup for Boys Under 13, organised under the auspicious of Sharjha Cricket Council.
Batting first the Modern High School started in blazing fashion scoring 68 in the first 6 overs. But they could not keep the momentum going and were dismissed for 130 in 16.2 overs.
Ajay (30 in 16balls) was supported by Shekhar (34).
Faizan (3 for 27), Satya (2 for 40) and Barghav (2 for 29) were among the wickets.
Our Own High School Warqa started the reply in typical fashion with their inform opening pair of Satya (18) and Sai (32) posting a partnership of 49 runs. Thereafter wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and they were dismissed for 106 in 19.4 overs. Varun and Akarsh picked up three wickets each for Modern HS.
