DOHA: Abdul Rehman Al-Meer, the Head of Retail Banking, is retiring from Doha Bank after 30 years of long-standing service. He is one of the founders of Doha Bank and also the longest serving Qatari national.

Al Meer started his career with Doha Bank on March 15, 1979, after graduating with a bachelor's degree in Banking. Since then he has held various positions within Doha Bank's Customer Relationship Management and Retail Banking divisions.

Under, his stewardship Doha Bank's retail network gained dominant position in the Qatari banking landscape with 28 state-of-art branches, 11 e-branches, 11 pay offices, 2 mobile units in Doha, 1 mobile unit in Dubai with more than 100 ATMs.

Al Meer has been in senior management roles in Doha Bank since 1998 and from January 1, 2008, he was promoted as the Assistant General Manager, Retail Banking Division. In his 30 years of long-standing service Al Meer also served as the Head of the Qatarisation Committee of Doha Bank. In fact for many Qatari national staffs in the bank, he was a role model.

Sheikh Fahad bin Mohammad bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Board of Directors of Doha Bank, speaking on the farewell party, said: "Over the last 30 years Abdul Rehman Al-Meer through his extraordinary commitment and service levels has contributed immensely to the success of Doha Bank. His outstanding 30 years of service will be remembered by the entire Doha Bank family in the years to come. We wish him our best wishes in all his good efforts in the coming days".

Sheikh Abdul Rehman bin Mohammad bin Jabor Al Thani, Managing Director of Doha Bank, said Al Meer had been Doha Bank's Customer Relationship and Retail Banking Brand Ambassador for more than three decades. "His great association will be remembered and cherished by all of us in coming days," he said.

R Seetharaman, Chief Executive Officer of Doha Bank, said: "Al Meer's contribution to Doha Bank's success for the last 30 years cannot be forgotten by us. He was always a great team member and a good friend to all of us; we wish him the best in the coming days."

Al-Meer, speaking on the occasion, said Doha Bank over the last 30 years has become a great institution moving progressively from one milestone to another in terms of performance, recognitions and outstanding service levels.
