MUSCAT -- Sohar witnessed the 1st round of the Dodge Game On! 2014, a one of its kind simulator drive challenge in Oman held last weekend at the Safeer Mall. The two-day event was a grand success, and had over 2,000 spectators and over 340 participants from across the Batinah Governorate. The event concluded on Saturday with Hamed Salim Rashid al Balushi, Adil Mohammed Saif al Rajhi, Abdullah Ghalib Salim al Jabri, Abdullah Salim al Moqbali, Simon Whitaker and Hamed Ibrahim Ahmed al Qasmi ending up in the  top six. They all went through to the quarterfinals which is scheduled to be held in Muscat on the June 21, 2014.

Commenting on the success of the first event, Piroshah Nowroji, Marketing and Product Manager, Dhofar Automotive commented, "We were amazed to see the huge turnout and audience enthusiasm in Sohar for Game on! 2014 qualifying round. The total time and distance driven by all participants was equivalent to 26 hours and the virtual kilometres covered were 2,826.41 -- a whopping 9 times the distance from Muscat to Sohar! We are eagerly looking forward to the 2nd qualifying round, which will be held in Nizwa at the Lulu Hypermarket this weekend".

The rules and regulations of the game and the event are extremely comprehensive and user-friendly. The participants should be at least 5 feet or 150 cms tall in order to reach all contact points of the simulator. Cars, courses and laps are pre-decided and the top timings in the qualifying rounds will enter the quarterfinals and will consequently compete for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions in the final challenge.
