Malls across Dubai continue to host a series of activities as part of Dubai Summer Surprises 2005.
Reef Mall has set up a wonderland for children, called Aalam MBC3. The activities here will continue until DSS closes on September 2.
Open to children between ages 4 and 14, the venue is open from 4pm to 10pm daily and entrance is free.
It comprises four main areas of amusement MBC3 Virtual Theatre, MBC3 Illusions, MBC3 Fun Area and MBC3 Projections.
Andrea Mergulhao, a volunteer, said: "It's really been a good gathering everyday of kids from all nationalities because the displays here are not targeted at any one area of interest. All the displays tickle the mind."
"We also have mini-science shows every hour for 15 minutes each. Simple topics like image enhancement and virtual reality are touched upon," she added.
Ramia Basheer, a 6-year-old who studies at Dubai Scholars, said: "I liked the 3D show that was done on the stage, it was as if the puppets are for real. I never saw anything like this before."
Added 9-year-old Aiyda Abdullah, as she demonstrated an optical illusion for her little brother: "When I stick my head out of this hole in the table it looks like my head is on the plate because the sides of the table have mirrors on it and they are reflecting the outside walls of the set-up. When I did this the first time, my little brother got baffled, it was like a scary movie scene."
At Lamcy Plaza, the many moods of Modhesh are captured in colours at the Marmum workshops. The shopping destination is hosting the Colour with Modhesh and Marmum activity this week to give children a chance to have fun with their favourite superstar.
Winners of the competition are given gifts, certificates and vouchers sponsored by Marmum.
The activity is being held in Lamcy Plaza's Food Court daily between 8pm and 10pm.
The shopping mall is also hosting children's games and magic shows, apart from henna painting, caricatures, and tattoo and nail bar booths.
