Dubai, 26th May 2012 (WAM) -- Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has now become a Registered Education Provider of activities and credential course of the American Project Management Institute (PMI) based in Pennsylvania, USA. This has become possible after a team of DEWA professionals successfully passed the PMI (Project Management Institute) standards, following the DEWA managements decision to apply Project Management concepts as part of the Authoritys vision of being a sustainable world class utility service provider.

PMI Registered Education Providers are organizations that have received PMI approval to offer training in project management and issue professional development units to meet the continuing education requirements needed by PMI credential holders. To earn the Registered Education Providers designation, a provider must meet or exceed rigorous standards for quality and effectiveness as defined by PMI.

"DEWA has consistently stood for excellence and sustainable growth in all areas of its activity and is keen to invest in human resources to increase production levels and enrich DEWA employees competitive capabilities. The purpose of going for the PMI course was to distribute the Project Management knowledge across DEWA employees," said Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO.

"Now that we are part of the world project management standards, knowledge sharing and networking opportunities through PMI chapters and communities of practice will help DEWA achieve its strategic goals and attain recognition for DEWA projects nationally and internationally", added Al Tayer.

As a result of the PMI initiative, DEWA will be able to achieve savings on training budgets by providing training courses internally with the same internationals credits. It will also gain eligibility on most PMI publications purchased through the PMI Marketplace. The achievement enables DEWA to customize Project Management trainings as per PMI Standards and DEWA requirements and with less dependency on external training providers.

The PMI Credentials will help the DEWA Project Management team to be certified on: Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMPSM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Projects Planning and Scheduling Standards (PSP), and Organization Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3).
