Dubai Dasbat, part of Abu Dhabi-based Baynunah group, said yesterday it will be the value-added reseller for Dassault Systems' 3D and product life cycle management (PLM) solutions. The agreement results from Dassault Systems' strategic decision in January 2009 to target new markets and fast growing economics.

The UAE will be a main Dassault Systems reseller in the Middle East and among 150 worldwide, company officials said.

Khalid Al Bu Ainnain, chairman of Dasbat, said: "We follow the demand of UAE industrial companies and organisations for the most modern PLM and 3D virtualisation technologies to ensure global collaboration and seamless product, project and plant life cycle management.

"We expect to see customers taking full advantage of PLM solutions and gain competitiveness in the quickly transforming UAE economy."

Going forward, Dasbat and Dassault will deliver the highest value to strategic sectors of the UAE economy and ever increasing industrial base, Al Bu Ainnain said.

The system of PLM solutions will not only target the industrial sector but would be implemented in the UAE's education system as well, under an agreement signed by Khalifa University yesterday.

Al Bu Ainnain told Gulf News: "Dasbat is going to invest around six million euros (Dh33 million) initial cost to insert PLM solutions in the educational sector, which represents 15 per cent of the actual cost of the project."

Their plan is to cover their expenses in three years and look at signing deals with big industry outside aircraft business as well to be provided by Dassault.

Philippe Forestier, executive vice-president, Global Affairs and Communities, Dassault, said: "Dassault Systems has decided to become a strategic partner of UAE leading industries and institution and support the successful establishment of a digital economy with a solid local base, in each country, a DS organisation will implement tailored action plans.
