Committed to further augment its managerial competencies which resulted in the CCHSA Accreditation that it received recently, Dar Al Shifa Hospital (DASH) held a leadership course for 30 employees -- from across its administrative, medical, nursing and other departments -- conducted by the renowned Dr Stephen L Walston (Ph. D, F.A.C.H.E.), President of the TSW Institute for Quality and Leadership. The four-day course -- held from Feb 9-12, 2008 -- dwelled into essential foundational leadership and managerial techniques, through hands-on examples and interactive activities aimed at enabling the Dar Al Shifa participants to better comprehend, internalize and apply concepts to their field of work at the Hospital.

Held at the Movenpick Hotel, Salmiya, the leadership course touched upon a wide range of key subjects including Management and Leadership; Customers, Coaching, and Change; Problem Solving & Decision Making; Planning and Strategy; Organizing; Personal Management; Motivating and Monitoring; Communication skills for leaders; Managing Teams, Hiring, & Interviewing; Developing written guidelines; and, Budgets & budgeting. The Hospital will continue to regularly monitor, assess and upgrade the capabilities of its management through a range of tools in the year ahead.
