DUBAI, 8th June, 2014 (WAM)--The Dubai government-run Dar Al Ber Society (DABS), is fully gearing up for the holy month of Ramadan by holding a three-day training workshop for 80 staffers and volunteers.
The Administrative and Financial Department (AFD) of the Corporate Support Sector, DABS, trained the attendees concerned with donation collection on the best possible practices through the Ramadan charity campaign. The intensive lectures and workshops were delivered by the officials in charge at the departments of Zakat, Projects, Orphans, Culture, Studies, Marketing, and Corporate Communication. Abdul Karim Jaafar, Head of the Revenues Section ? AFD, gave a presentation on the planned charitable projects. He also shed light on the dos and don'ts, mainly those related to financial and auditing issues. "The participants were urged to maximise their effort, observe the highest quality performance, and strictly follow the set procedures to keep safe the hopeful donations, contribution receipts and safes. Revenue receipts and the serial numbered parts of donation coupons must be kept as a proof of contribution," he added. Jaafar alerted participants to carefully comply with the instructions of the Department of Islamic Affairs, Awqaf, and Charitable Activities in Dubai vis-?-vis the set amount for each and every type of contribution. "A donation for an Iftar meal costs AED15 while Al Fitr or Fast-breaking charity and the Eid or Feast clothing have been set at AED20 and AED40 in turn, and AED10 is the minimum amount fixed for general endowment."The donation set for sponsoring orphans abroad is AED150 against AED300 for local cases. Sponsoring a poor family in a foreign country costs AED350, whereas the sponsorship of a handicapped person in the UAE is AED600 compared to AED400 overseas. Jaafar stated that the donation for sponsoring poor students and Quran teachers has no maximum limit, yet it starts from AED200, based on the different amount of education fees from one grade and place to another. "The donation accepted for printing the Holy Quran is AED6 for a pocket-size edition, AED15 for medium size, AED25 for big size, and AED150 for oversised copy assigned for Tahajud or late night prayer," he said, noting that contributions are accepted for scientific and introductory publications on Islam, which are specially translated for fresh Muslims. Nada Mohammed bin Obaid, Manager Marketing and Corporate Communication ? DABS, gave a briefing on the best way to promote and market the seasonal projects of the Society during the holy month of Ramadan under the theme: ?No matter what you give makes a difference?. "The attendees were enlightened on how to introduce the DABS projects to philanthropists and donors in general with the help of mass media, be they printed or audiovisual, apart from available advertisement and propaganda." Obaid urged the attendees to develop people?s awareness about the DABS charity projects, such as Zakat, Fat-breaking meals, Al Fitr zakat, Eid clothing, and other contributions.
