Danube Properties, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai-based Danube Group, has awarded the main construction contract for its $136-million (AED 500-million) Dreamz by Danube in Al Furjan, Dubai, UAE, to United Engineering Construction (UNEC), according to its chairman.

"We have awarded the main construction contract for our Dreamz project to UNEC," company chairman Rizwan Sajan told Zawya Projects in an exclusive.

In September, Zawya Projects reported the developer had shortlisted the 20 contractors for its project with the contract slated to be awarded before year-end.

Designed by Dubai-based Edmac Engineering Consultant, the project comprises 171 townhouses due for completion in 2016.

The Al Furjan development project is located close to Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai. The community is home to more than 2,500 people.

Danube Group started as a building material company in 1993 and entered the real estate development scene in May 2014.
