Ahmad ibn Ali Bayazid, deputy general secretary at the municipality, said, "We've signed a three-year contract with one of the biggest specialized companies. The plan includes paving and maintaining the city's streets."
Abbas Abdul Ghani Kattan, general manager of operations and maintenance at Makkah Municipality, said, "We've started working on paving streets in the Al-Hamraa district of the city. The project will cost about SR5,000,000."
Kattan said that Al-Hamraa is considered to be one of the biggest and relatively new districts of Makkah and has a large number of inhabitants. The area is rather important since it is strategically located at the entrance of Makkah.
This project is just one of many decided by the municipality to develop and improve the holy city.
